WELCOME TO THE FIRST NEWCASTLE POSTGRADUATE CONFERENCE IN THEORETICAL AND APPLIED LINGUISTICS
Friday, 23rd June
We are pleased to announce the First Newcastle Postgraduate Conference in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics in association with the University of Durham, sponsored by the AHRC.
The success of the Durham Postgraduate Linguistics Conference over the past decade, and the recent amalgamation of Durham's linguistics department with Newcastle University's School of English, has led to the creation of a new conference based in Newcastle. This one-day conference is designed to give linguistics postgraduates an opportunity to present and discuss their research in an informal and intellectually stimulating setting.
Professor Bernard Comrie (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary
Anthropology) and Professor Vivian Cook (University of Newcastle upon Tyne) will be giving guest lectures at this year’s conference.
All presenters (oral and poster) must register for the conference as soon as possible if you haven't already done so! Please also check the programme to ensure there are no difficulties with your allotted time.
The registration form is available to download.
The deadline for early registration for the conference is Friday, 16th
The conference itself takes place at Newcastle University on Friday, 23rd June.
The conference will take place in the Research Beehive, Old Library Building at Newcastle University. Lunch and the poster session will take place in the Percy Building. Registration on the day will be from 9am-10am in the Research Beehive. Please arrive promptly to ensure you receive your conference pack and tickets for the conference dinner. Poster presenters in particular should make every effort to arrive early since your posters must be set up during the registration hour.
For further details on how to get to the Research Beehive and the Percy Building, and for more information on travelling to Newcastle, please see the http://pglinguistics2006.ncl.ac.uk/travel.php page.
